Meet Ms. Amanda Mickens
Ms. Amanda Mickens is a dedicated and passionate educator who brings a love for learning and literacy to every student she encounters. A native of North Carolina, Ms. Mickens has always been an avid reader, finding joy in books from an early age. As a child, she enjoyed comic books, fairy tales, and even reading the newspaper—anything that could spark her imagination and curiosity.
Ms. Mickens earned her Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Education from Norfolk State University and later pursued her passion for library sciences by earning a degree in Library Media Science from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Her reading interests have grown with her, and as an adult, she has developed a deep appreciation for nonfiction, especially books focused on American history, biographies, African American history, and the Bible. In addition to reading, she enjoys a variety of hobbies including crafting and sewing.
Ms. Mickens believes in the power of books to transform lives and open new worlds to readers of all ages. Her motto is:
