Meet Principal, Inett Dabney
Principal Dabney is a native of Richmond, Virginia and attended Richmond Public Schools from kindergarten through the 12th grade. She obtained her bachelors degree in education from Virginia Union University and her masters degree of supervision and administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been an educator for 28 years, on the elementary, middle, and high school level.
Her educational philosophy is that all students can learn and experience success, with loving, caring, and committed individuals. As an educator, she feels strongly that it is her responsibility to pay it forward to the next generation and provide them with the best educational experience possible.

Meet 8th Grade Assistant Principal, Dustin Robinson
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year. It is with great honor to serve as the 8th grade Assistant Principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. As we prepare you all for the start of a great year, we recognize that the journey can be challenging, but, with great collaboration between students, parents, and staff to improve the overall welfare of children, then the education of the whole child can be accomplished.
This will be my 10th year in education, and during that time, I have served as a math teacher, instructional math coach, and now a new role as your assistant principal. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in May 2013 and my Masters of Science in Mathematics in May 2015 at Virginia State University. In August 2022, I completed my Leadership Endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12 at Longwood University, and I am ready to serve our students, teachers, parents, and community.
I think that character development is essential to a student’s education. Students will be given opportunities to acquire and absorb the principles of citizenship, leadership, and respect for the rights of others. I believe that with a positive attitude, a growth mindset, and good character anyone can achieve greatness. I strive to instill those qualities in our young people and to be a positive role model as well. It is my goal to provide a safe and nurturing educational environment that challenges our students to reach beyond their expectations to become lifelong learners who will make the world a better place.

Meet 7th Grade Assistant Principal, Kimberly J. Johnson
Kimberly J. Johnson is a dedicated educator with 17 years of service in Richmond Public Schools. She spent 14 years as a passionate English teacher, during which she served for six years as English Department Chair, leading instructional initiatives and supporting her colleagues’ professional growth. For the past six years, she has served as an Administrative Aide at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Most recently, she served as a Literacy Coach for three years, where she led impactful professional development, analyzed student data to drive instruction, and contributed to district-level curriculum planning. Kimberly is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement to ensure student success.
“My philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that every child can learn and thrive when given access to equitable opportunities, high expectations, and meaningful relationships. I believe teaching is not just about delivering content but should inspire curiosity, cultivate critical thinking, and nurture the whole child socially, emotionally, and academically. I believe that schools should be safe, joyful, and rigorous places where all students, regardless of their background, can succeed.”

Meet 6th Grade Assistant Principal, Pamela Couther
Ms. Pamela Couther currently works as assistant principal at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Prior to accepting the call to school leadership, she worked an Instructional Specialist for Secondary Mathematics, focusing on high school Mathematics(2 years-RPS), with Richmond Public Schools. Ms. Couther’s previous positions include testing coordinator (2 years-RPS), Mathematics coach(4 years-Henrico County Public Schools), and Mathematics teacher(15 years – RPS). Math instruction is a passion, for Pam, and her calling is coaching teachers to improve their practice, fill their teacher toolbox, and to serve our children with love. In 1998, Pam obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hampton University. She completed her Masters in Mathematics at Virginia State University in 2015, focused on K-8 Mathematics Specialist. Ms. Couther completed an endorsement in Administration and Supervision with Longwood University in summer 2021.
