School Evacuation

Dear Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School Families,
I am communicating to you about a brief evacuation that occurred at our school today.
Earlier today, a suspicious smell was detected in the main gymnasium and auxiliary gymnasium. Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of all students and staff, the building was immediately evacuated in accordance with our safety procedures.
The fire department was called to inspect the facility. After a thorough inspection, fire officials cleared the building and declared it safe for re-entry.
All students and staff have safely returned to the building, and regular classes and normal school operations have resumed. We appreciate the quick response of the fire department and our students and staff for following safety protocols calmly and efficiently.
